Child Trauma and Sexual Abuse

I am dedicated to eradicating child sexual abuse—a major global public health problem and a violation of human rights that leads to adverse health outcomes. I am currently working as a consultant with Stop the Silence®: Stop Child Sexual Abuse, Inc. and Trust MYRIVR  in the role of Social Change Strategist and Program Evaluator.

Resources For Educators

I have developed two curriculums, Child Sexual Abuse and Breaking the Silence Within And Outside the Family  and Clergy Child Sexual Abuse  to provide graduate level instructors a two-week long mini course consisting of six hours (based on two three hour classes)  of  material  and approximately four hours  of independent work for students.  The curriculums help instructors  explore their own ideas and their student’s ideas about child sexual abuse and and non-offending family member trauma. These mini-courses are guided by the 2017 World Health Organization’s Clinical Guidelines: Responding to Children and Adolescents Who Have Been Sexually Abused.

Understanding Clergy Child Sexual Abuse

In this mini-course, instructors will explore:

  • Understanding the clergy child sexual abuse crisis in the Catholic Church.

  • Understand the stages of healing for families with victims of clergy sexual abuse.

Breaking the Silence Within And Outside the Family

In this mini-course, instructors will explore:

  • Family Dynamics that create and sustain a conspiracy of silence that suppresses or silences child victims from disclosing sexual abuse.

  • Stages of Healing for Victims and Non-Offending Family Members

  • Best Practices for Trauma-Informed Care at Time of Disclosure of Child Sexual Abuse
