Alison L. Hill, a graduate student at Harvard, Health Sciences and Technology, has studied forty years of data from the Framingham Heart Study. Using mathematical modeling, she has shown that the obesity epidemic has not leveled off at 34 percent but will continue to rise to 42 percent. Hill says, "Our analysis suggests that while people have gotten better at gaining weight since 1971, they haven't gotten any better at losing weight." While this is not such good news, we have to remember that there is also a lot of research being funded to find some promising weight loss interventions.
